Christmas anxiety and how to combat it
These are notes Mr. Williams used in the interview.
There are plenty things we put on ourselves that can make us anxious.
Trying to meet everyone's expectations.
This is one of the busiest times of the year.
We may feel like we need to attend every party, buy lots of gifts, and send everyone we
know a Christmas card.
Maybe we are so stressed about our economy that we don't feel like celebrating our Lord's
birth.
What does God say about it?
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your
requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will
keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:6-7
God promises us peace not anxiety.
Things you can do to reduce anxiety this time of year.
Pray without ceasing. Specifically pray before adding anything to your calendar - Lord how
do you want me to spend my time?
Don't go into debt buying gifts.
Don't feel obligated to purchase something for everyone.
Talk with a close friend about how you feel. They may be feeling the same.
Exercise, maybe take a walk with that close friend and you will help yourself twice as much
by multitasking activities that are beneficial.
As always keep your focus on Jesus - Enjoy the wonderful devotionals, music, and events
that are provided this time of year.
